ARMAGH CITY YOUTH
A tremendous weekend for Armagh City Youth with three out of the four teams that played registering wins and the fourth team, the U-11 side, staging a remarkable comeback from three- one down to take a point and they even threatened to go on and win the game! There was enormous commitment and spirit shown by the young TMET sponsored team. However it was the U-13 squad who really made it a red letter day for Armagh City Youth, and indeed made club history, when they became the first City side to claim a Northern Ireland Youth League title after their win in Magherafelt. One down early on the U-13s displayed considerable skill and poise to maintain their self belief and once they equalized went on to dominate the game and take all three points. Remarkably the local side have only conceded that single goal in the last seven League games. The team are in an unassailable position some eleven points ahead of their nearest challengers and secure in first place and in their promotion to the higher division . Congratulations to all connected with the squad and well done to all the squad. Elsewhere the Homecare sponsored Armagh City Youth U-18 team maintained their unbeaten League run with a home win over Lurgan Town. A rotation of players meant that the team took a while to settle but as the game progressed City continued to improve and secured the points with five goals without reply. The U-12 game at Ardmore was a marvellous advert for under-age football with both sides involved in a match which could have gone to either side and had attacking football and heroic defending in great measure. An own goal put Armagh ahead but Cookstown pressure brought an equalizing goal from a corner and as the game swung to and fro City it was who scored the winner with full time imminent.
